about BNC summer camps

The lovely meadows and forests of Bohart Ranch, under the towering peaks of the Bridger Range, are the inspiration for creating Bridger Nature Center.

Each day in camp has an outdoor skill focus: topics such as knots, maps and compasses, Leave No Trace skills, simple first aid, animal awareness, fire starting and safety, edible foods and plant id, and personal needs in the outdoors. Archery is offered one day a week through Extreme Performance Archery in Bozeman.

Each day also includes plenty of time to play and explore in the woods. Games like Camouflage and Capture the Flag are opportunities to learn teamwork and fair play.

Campers apply new skills in creating crafts such as parachute cord survival bracelets and willow bows and arrows. Each camper receives a blank journal and is encouraged to draw and write to record their observations and new skills throughout the week.

Each week in camp covers the same skills and crafts, but what makes each camp different is the relationships that grow within each unique group of camps, and the diverse interests within each group that drives the activities where campers choose to focus their attentions.

Outdoor skills, natural science, useful and beautiful crafts, imaginative games and simply spending time in nature are what Bridger Nature Center offers. Camaraderie, fun, exploration with new and old friends are how we like to spend our time at BNC.

With Bohart Ranch to wander in and explore, Bridger Nature Center provides opportunities for campers to spend time in nature, play and learn in the woods, creeks and meadows, and come away feeling part of the natural world we all live in.
